The University of Bergamo is a public institution located within a network of campuses that covers the historic architecture of the Upper Town, the economic and legal centre of the Lower Town, and the engineering hub of Dalmine. Its identity combines urban heritage with an international outlook, promoting teaching, research, and third-mission engagement in constant dialogue with businesses, institutions, and the wider community. Departmental infrastructures provide state-of-the-art laboratories for studying advanced materials, photonics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and complex chemical and manufacturing processes. These capabilities enable the University to address significant socio-economic challenges, including sustainable manufacturing, health and quality of life, preservation of cultural heritage, and energy and environmental sustainability. Doctoral programmes focused on the ecological and digital transition, along with Horizon Europe-funded projects, develop researchers capable of transforming knowledge into responsible innovation.
The University also participates in European university alliances and industrial clusters, thereby amplifying the impact of its activities.
Through public-engagement initiatives such as “Bergamo Next Level,” it promotes a culture of sustainability and encourages the co-creation of value with the region, confirming its mission as a driver of inclusive and competitive development. Read more: www.unibg.it
