Below you can find a detailed legend of all acronyms used in NanoInnovation conference program:

TT = Technical Parallel Track Session
Technical Parallel Track Session identifies a 90-minute slot. Two slots are held in the morning (09.00 -10.30 and 11.30 - 13.00) and two in the afternoon (14.00 - 15.30 and 16.00 - 17.30) On the whole, NanoInnovation program has 12 Technical Parallel Track Sessions, 4 for each day of conference.
Each of the twelve Technical Parallel Track Sessions includes several parallel thematic symposia. Some thematic symposia are part of workshops and special events while others are organized independently.

NanoInnovation acronyms are:

WS = Workshop
Workshops are structured sessions that explore key thematic areas of NanoInnovation. They are designed to foster in-depth discussion and interaction through multiple presentations, typically followed by Q&A. Workshops usually span half a day or a full day and are scheduled across the main conference days. They are organized by leading academic or industrial institutions and coordinated in collaboration with the Programme Committee to ensure thematic consistency and high scientific quality.

BO = BreakOut sessions
BreakOut sessions are parallel scientific and technical symposia addressing specific research topics within nanotechnology and enabling technologies. These sessions offer a more focused and informal setting for scientific exchange and are typically held in the late afternoon, lasting around 90 minutes. Each BreakOut session is curated by experts or institutional partners and often linked to national or European research projects.

JE = Joint Event
Joint Events are collaborative sessions organized by multiple partners or research networks to address cross-disciplinary topics of broad relevance. Examples include thematic roundtables or panels involving stakeholders from academia, industry, and society, such as ethics in nanotechnology or citizen engagement. These sessions generally last between one and two hours and are integrated into the main programme. They are co-organized by institutions under the supervision of the Scientific Committee and highlight the intersection between nanoscience and broader societal or policy challenges.

GE = Guest Event
Guest Events are sessions proposed and hosted by external organizations or experts who contribute to the conference programme with a dedicated topic of interest. These events aim to enrich the scientific offering by opening the floor to emerging fields, industrial case studies, or regulatory perspectives. The Guest Events are usually scheduled during the first conference day. Organization is carried out directly by the proposing entity in collaboration with the NanoInnovation organizers, ensuring alignment with the event’s scientific objectives.

DE = Demo Event
Demo Events are live demonstration sessions where companies, research centers, or technology providers showcase advanced tools, instrumentation, or experimental setups. These events offer hands on insights and are particularly useful for highlighting the practical applications of nanotechnologies. Each demo typically lasts about half an hour and is scheduled throughout the exhibition hours during the conference week. They are organized by the exhibiting institutions and hosted in designated demo areas, under the coordination of the exhibition management team.

SF = Satellite Forum
Satellite Forums are independently organized thematic events held within the framework of NanoInnovation. These forums are proposed by external institutions, research groups, or industrial partners wishing to host a self contained session on a specific topic of interest. They are usually scheduled within the conference week and last approximately one to two hours. While the content and structure are defined by the proposing entities, the Programme Committee integrates the sessions into the official agenda and provides logistical and promotional support.

FE = Featured Event
Featured Events represent flagship components of NanoInnovation, including initiatives such as iENTRANCE for Industrial Technologies or the YoungInnovation programme dedicated to students and early career researchers. These events are designed to attract broad attention and often combine scientific content with networking and mentoring activities. The duration varies significantly: some span multiple days, while others are structured into single sessions. They are curated by dedicated organizing teams and receive visibility across the entire conference, with the support of the Scientific and Programme Committees.

IS = Insight Session - Parallel Keynotes and Showcases
Insight Parallel Sessions are short, high-impact presentations designed to offer strategic overviews or visionary perspectives on emerging topics in nanotechnology and related fields. These sessions consist of 40 minute lectures delivered by distinguished speakers from academia, industry, or public institutions, and are intended to stimulate reflection and discussion across disciplines. They are scheduled immediately after the morning or afternoon coffee breaks and are organized by scientific or institutional partners and supervised by the Programme Committee, Insight Sessions are an opportunity to highlight frontier developments or introduce cross-cutting themes in a concise, accessible format within the broader NanoInnovation programme.
