The development of smart sensing technologies is increasingly driven by advances in materials science and nanoscale engineering. Emerging materials are enabling sensors that are not only more sensitive and selective, but also adaptive to complex environments. At the same time, understanding and controlling intrinsic material properties—electronic, optical, mechanical, and molecular—provides the foundation for novel approaches to signal transduction. This session highlights how the integration of innovative materials, advanced characterization methods and nano scale technologies are unlocking new possibilities for sensing across diverse domains, including biomedicine, precision mechanics, electronic and metrology. |
