Lab-on-Chip Design and Fabrication in Integrated Photonic Technologies
Co-organized with FBK
Chair: Domenico ROSSI, STMicroelectronics

This workshop focuses on recent advancements in the design and fabrication of Lab-on-Chip (LoC) systems using integrated photonic technologies. As the demand for compact, high-performance diagnostic and sensing platforms grows, photonics-enabled LoC devices are emerging as powerful tools for biomedical, environmental, and industrial applications.
Participants will explore the intersection of microelectronics, photonics, and microfluidics, with particular attention to the development of scalable, sensitive, and reliable biosensing solutions. Topics will include process integration, materials innovation (such as silicon nitride), and the design challenges involved in merging photonic circuits with fluidic control systems.
Through a multidisciplinary lens, the workshop will highlight the technological and manufacturing opportunities that integrated photonics offers for next-generation diagnostics. It aims to foster collaboration between academia and industry, and to inspire new directions in the development of lab-scale analytical platforms on a chip.
