New Potential Applications of Drug Delivery Nanosystems in Public Health
Co-organized with Istituto Superiore di Sanità
Chairs: Annarica CALCABRINI & Maria CONDELLO, Istituto Superiore di Sanità

The workshop “New potential applications of drug delivery nanosystems in public health” will deal with the nanosystem design and employment for the delivery of bioactive molecules, including drugs, for biomedical applications. Drug delivery nanosystems have significant potential to improve public health by enhancing the efficacy and safety of treatments, particularly in areas like cancer, chronic and inflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative disorders. Nanosystems allow for a targeted and controlled release of the cargo, its improved bioavailability and a reduced onset of resistance phenomenon by target cells, leading to reduced side effects and better patient outcomes. Several nanocarriers have allowed improving the therapeutic efficacy of bioactive molecules and drugs (both synthetic and from natural sources) in preclinical studies and, some of them, also in clinical trials.
Specifically, this workshop will deal with the development of nanosystems such as calcium phosphate nanoparticles, magnetoliposomes, peptide hydrogels, gold nanorods and their potential applications for the prevention and treatment of different pathologies.

In addition to the mandatory event registration on the official website at the LINK, participants are also invited to complete the participation form for this session at this other LINK.
